Listening to a talk about Sultan Mosque.
We learnt that the mosque was first built in 1824. Back then, it was only a three-tiered mosque.
As years passed, the Muslim community in Singapore grew. This called for the need for the expansion the mosque which was completed in 1928.
The community would donate to the mosque for its expansion. Families that could not provide in monetary terms would donate empty soy sauce bottles. The bottles are now being used as decoration at the base of the golden domes of the mosque.
