The children were greeted by the school’s ambassadors (P6) who were in charge of taking them around. They were shown the teaching lab where they were given a welcome talk by the ambassadors. A brief introduction of the school was given and the children got to learn more about the life of the students there.
They were then split into smaller groups and were given the chance to chat and ask questions of the ambassadors to find out more about their experiences in the primary school.
Next, the children were brought to the fern garden that grows the local flora and fauna. They got to look at the solar panel which was a project aimed to find out whether the school could implement the use of clean renewable energy. It also allowed the students there to explore the use of solar panels and its benefits.
The next part of the tour was the school’s library. They were taken to a feature in the library called ‘The Spotlight’ which is a platform that showcases the myriad of talents that can be found in the school. Afterwards, it was time to explore the different parts of the library.
They briefly looked at the bookstore which sells various stationery and study materials and then moved on to the different parts of the canteen.
The children stopped by the lower part of the school’s indoor sports hall where they had station games for children to participate at.
The last and long-awaited segment of the tour led by the ambassadors involved buying items from the stalls in the canteen. They had each brought $1 with them and went around to look for snacks or items they could purchase with that amount. Children experienced ordering, paying and collecting their change from the staff.
Once everyone made their purchase, they gathered at the bench and enjoyed their snacks. It was also a time where the children mingled with the ambassadors before bidding farewell to them.
