The children stepped into a room called the Theatre of Generations. With a spectacular 360 degree dome projection, the children were thrilled to watch a short film about the dreams of a bright future for Singapore. The story was presented in a reverse time-lapse between 1965 and 2030.
Using massive LED screens, the children were immersed in the experience of seeing the countless possibilities of tomorrow.
They were shown various ideas that would create changes to improve transportation and living spaces.
Mr. Bobby explained about how we can be creative in our use of space for future needs. One example was growing vegetables and fruits in sky-rise farms, which could be used as a means of helping to feed the community.
One of the dreams for the future was the idea of using kinetic energy to generate enough power to run household appliances, with surplus energy for the community.
After stepping into the room named Blue Skies, the children were given the opportunity to draw their own creative ideas on tablets and watch it appear on a screen above them.
The children were delighted to be introduced to the robot named Pepper. Along with a few children from another preschool, they sang and danced with Pepper.
One of the highlights of the trip was seeing kinetic energy in action. The children were given a chance to play on the swings and the energy produced from their movement produced crescent and star-shaped bubbles.
A memorable trip indeed. After having seen creative ideas of how technology can be utilized, the children started using their imagination and came up with their own innovative ideas like making a pair of power glasses (which can read other people’s minds)or shoes that would allow them to hover or fly.
