A Musical Story ( PG, N1, N2 )
Tues 11.45am - 12.15pm
$10 X 10 weeks = $100
A Musical Story is a music programme specially written for children from 2-4 years old. Each term, the child will be transported into an award-winning book. A musical journey from cover to cover. A few pages will be explored each week until the end of the term. The child will be exposed to familiar classical music and music activities will be centered around those classical music introduced that week.
Activities like:
Learning the form of music through music & movement
Learning of musical concepts e.g fast, slow, high, low, loud, soft, smooth, bumpy, long, short
Playing with percussion instruments
Establishing steady beat
Association of music with the mood
Most of all, to learn how to take time to appreciate the beauty of classical music that is so vital to young children.
Appropriate rhymes and songs will be taught to the child to complement the development of the story.
Musical Stage 1 ( K1 – Term 1 & 2 )
Friday 11.45am – 12.30pm
$15 X 10 weeks = $150 + $30 materials ( T1 )
$15 X 10 weeks = $150 + $30 materials + $60 Glockenspiel ( T2 )
The children will slowly be introduced to the rudiments of theory in a playful manner. Flashcards, worksheets and musical games are played to create interest. The children will learn 1 featured composer at each level. The percussion section in the orchestra is our focus for these 2 terms.
Musical Stage 2 ( K1 – Term 3 & 4 )
Friday 11.45am – 12.30pm
$15 X 10 weeks = $150 + $30 materials ( T3 )
$15 X 10 weeks = $150 + $30 materials ( T4 )
In addition to the above, the children will be taught to read all the notes on the treble clef, as they will be working on the glockenspiel. Music signs are introduced through classical music where they can freely move along to internalize the meaning and appreciate the music. 1 featured composer and the brass section in the orchestra is our focus for these 2 terms.
Musical Stage 3 ( K2 – Term 1 & 2 )
Friday 12.30pm – 1.15pm
$15 X 10 weeks = $150 + $30 materials + $50 Ukulele ( T1 )

The children will learn to play the ukulele. The ukulele is a string instrument that is widely enjoyed by the young and old. Simples tunes are taught. Be ready for some jamming here. Music terms will be introduced here. 1 featured composer and the string section in the orchestra is our focus for these 2 terms.

$15 X 10 weeks = $150 + $30 materials + $15 Recorder & Theory Book ( T3 )

The recorder is an instrument that is both delightful and easy to play. We will be working on the recorder here. The children will also learn to write notes as there will be some theory to do in class each week. By the end of the term, they would have learnt and collected a stack of music signs and terms. They are now ready to move on the Grade 1 theory. Having tried the glockenspiel ( Keyboard ), ukulele ( Strings ) and the recorder ( Wind ), they would also have a better idea of what instrument they would like to pursue. 1 featured composer and the wind section in the orchestra is our focus for these last terms.
