The children walked excitedly into the gallery in pairs.
The children looked around the gallery excitedly as they waited for the officer-in-charge to start the guided tour.
The officer started the tour by giving a brief history of the building that we were in, which houses both the gallery and the Central Fire Station. The building was built in 1908 and has been declared a national monument.
The children were then led to the very first horse drawn steam fire engine that was used in Singapore, the Merryweather Steam Fire Engine. This steam engine ran on burning coals and was able to raise pressure quickly to produce powerful jets of water.
